More About Jessica Sorci, LMFT

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (in the states of California and Virginia) and Founder of Family Tree Wellness, a center dedicated to supporting women and their families on the motherhood journey. As someone who has traveled through my own postpartum struggle, I learned firsthand about the vulnerability of new moms and the humongous growth opportunities afforded to us on our maternal journeys. I'm a believer in the power of openhearted kindness and curiosity to heal human beings. I'm committed to expanding and challenging my own mind, body and spirit through personal work, play and transformation and I consider my ongoing exploration of life to be vital to my ability to help others.  I'm a mom and a step-mom,  and in my past careers I was a singer and songwriter, and a bookkeeper.  I feel blessed to now work with women in this magical phase of life.

The way I work is inspired by Internal Family Systems, meditation and mindfulness, neuroscience, creative expression and spirituality. I believe mothering is the heart of our humanity and so pregnancy, postpartum adjusting and parenthood matter more to me than anything. I work with individuals, couples and groups in my practice and am so thrilled to now be offering online courses to support families in these tender phases of life. I'm in a private practice with an incredible group of therapists I hand-picked,  who also specialize in maternal mental health.  I specialize in the following:

  • prenatal and postpartum transitions
  • parenting
  • marital challenges (including separation and divorce)
  • trauma
  • depression (lack of joy and energy in the self)
  • anxiety (inhibition and fear that keeps you from reaching your potential and from being who you really are)
  • attachment
  • supporting doulas and midwives in their work

I received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1996 and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in 2009.   I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFC 53881).
