BGCSE Office Procedures
The Bahamas General Certificate of Secondary Education is an examination that was established in 1992 having been developed in consultation with the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate (UCLES).
This examination is designed to assess the achievement of at least 80-85% of the Bahamian Students on completion of five or six years of secondary level education. It will provide a broadening of opportunity for students to show what they know, understand and can do.
This preparation course is designed for candidates taking Office Procedures as a single subject. You will review three years of content. The course is delivered online and includes a print workbook. The course is also assisted by an Instructor.
This course will prepare students to sit the BGCSE for Office Procedures. Upon completion of this study, students will be able to:
- develop a working knowledge of the operational procedures of an office
- develop an awareness of the Bahamian Business Community in both private and public sectors
- develop skills in the preparation of business communications structure and format.
- ensure accuracy in format and layout for business documents inclusive of government styles
- develop an awareness of technology
This exam has 3 papers:
Paper I - (Core) 2 hours. 70% grade weighting. Paper I consists of two sections. Section A contains 20 objective type questions.. Section B contains a series of short answer and structured questions.
Paper II - (Extended) 2.30 hours. 70% grade weighting. Paper II consists of a series of short-answer structured questions based on stimuli material. All questions must be answered.
Paper III - (Coursework) 30% grade weighting.
Candidates may use a calculator or ruler.
