BJC Mathematics

This course prepares students to sit the BJC Mathematics Exam.  The course aims to:

  1. have students recall, apply and interpret mathematical knowledge in the context of everyday situations.
  2. set out mathematical work, including the situation of problems in a logical and clear form using the appropriate symbols and terminology
  3. organize, interpret and present information accurately in written, tabular, graphical and diagrammatic forms
  4. recognize patterns and structures in a variety of situations, and form generalizations
  5. analyze a problem, select a suitable strategy and apply appropriate techniques to obtain its solution
  6. understand and apply basic concepts of probability

Exam Scheme

Candidates will be examined in each of the following parts of the exam as follows:

- 1 hours - (40% percentage weighting)

a) short answer questions requiring little working

PAPER II - 2 hours - (60% percentage weighting)

a) structured type questions of a more complex nature than paper one
