Welcome to our Mindful Living course.......
This course was promoted by feedback from students that have tried mindfulness and have found the commitment of time and being able to focus on some of the more formal practices too challenging at their current stressed status.
When your life is already in overwhelm, it can be difficult to bring in more practices, find more time or even to give yourself that level of self-care.
This course looks at ways to bring more present moment awareness into your life without any major alterations.
So much of our day is completed without any awareness, simply running on automatic pilot. Our autonomous system is necessary for our body to work - to allow our body to function, new cell growth, the 500 plus liver functions, our blood carrying vital nutrients around our bodies and the simple process of breathing that we do not need to concentrate on, but without we would not survive.
However, some of our other activities could achieve so much more with a little conscious awareness.....
For example... eating - when was the last time you sat down to eat a meal without any distraction - simply focussing on your food - the texture, the smell, the taste........
Instead, the reality is eating is a background activity whilst we read our emails, watch the news on TV, discuss the day with our family or run through or mental to do list or any other Myriad of thoughts....
Increasing our awareness, enables us to slow down a little - enough to observe..... to really notice.
It also gives us the opportunity, as you become more noticeably aware throughout all our activities, to be able to choose how to respond to situations rather than react automatically. (Often the latter is an automatic reaction to a situation, when sometimes a different response with awareness would be both more appropriate and more empowering for us).
This 6 week course guides you through different focuses each week, it unfolds with exploratory exercises, daily practices and guided recordings enabling you to integrate each element into your life.
It focuses on the non-formal elements of mindfulness enabling those who find the formal hour long meditations both overwhelming and challenging whilst juggling the rest of their lives.
This is great as an introduction to living more mindfully and would also lead into the more the formal mindfulness practices as your own practice both deepens and expands.
Being more aware in the present moment invites benefits into your life such as more focus, more clarity, reduces stress and anxiety, can increase self acceptance and tolerance levels amongst many others.
