Students will produce a well organized footwear idea presentation for the market, gender and season of their choosing with relevant research to support their design theory. The idea will be accompanied by visual presentation of sketches, graphs/charts of market segment and spec sheets highlighting special features and functions (if any) that will make the product marketable. The presentation must include and apply aspects from what was learned in the duration of the course including retail target price points suitable for the market to validate cost sheets. We will address the importance of fashion versus function and challenge designers to achieve both in their footwear product. The goal of this course is to go beyond suggestive drawings and bring out the designer, innovator and problem solver in each student.
