Well, that looks intimidating, doesn't it?
Don't let it scare you.
You've slaved over your manuscript for months, putting in buckets of sweat, blood, and probably several more buckets of tears. It is such an accomplishment to write these two words: THE END. Pat yourself on the back, because you have just done what 95% of people who say they want to write a book never do. CONGRATULATIONS!
Okay, party over.
Now let's move on to the after party...think you can hang?
There is not one manuscript that has ever been written that doesn't need an edit. Not one. Writing the book is the first step, but the basic fact is you're going to need to edit. You want to make sure your story is as tight as it can be before you send it to anyone.
"But," you say. "Isn't it perfect the way it is?"
No, and deep in your heart of hearts you know it. You didn't find this course by accident. You've recognized your work can be better and understand by cleaning up and fixing what you can, you'll get a better rate from a professional editor.
"Doesn't a professional editor make it all pretty? Why do I even need a professional editor?"
Yes, you do need one and I'll tell you why.
You will not see all the flaws.
In fact, no author can objectively stand back and critique their own work. This is because you are so close to the story. Think about it. You've lived and breathed this story for months, up close and personal. Your brain won't see the issues that need correcting.
And here's where you might start to panic. OMG! LOOK AT ALL THESE WORDS! HOW DO I EVEN START?
How do you climb a mountain?
One step at a time.
That's what I'm here to help you do. In this course, I'll break down the mystery of the self-editing process so you can present the best version of your work. This will save you money when hiring your editors, and teach you to be a better writer in the process. YIPPEE!
In the meantime, get out your pen and notebook. Feel free to take notes as we move along. There's a lot of information, but I promise you'll come out with the tools you need to take your manuscript to the next level.
Let's get started!
