Hello and welcome to my first online workshop...
This fun stitchy project will give you the chance to play with your fabrics and create your own Christmas decorations, perhaps to give as gifts, or just to bring cheer to your own home in the festive season, or depending on the colours you use, for any time of the year.
It is a simple construction, suitable for all levels of ability and experience, a chance to play with free machine embroidery if you wish to, or use your own embroidery stitches on your machine if not. A chance to learn a new process, develop your skill or just enjoy creating something lovely, and small enough to finish!
I find creating things is such a relaxing thing to do, and I hope you'll enjoy making these cute baubles! I love teaching and love sharing my passion for textiles...so please join me and we can all get creative together! Here's a little taste in the video below...
The course is split into 4 lessons each with a video, photos and written guidance, where I show how to make your bauble. Plus there is a downloadable PDF of full instructions for you to keep. If you do not wish to use free machine embroidery you can simply use any decorative embroidery stitches you have on your machine.
You can comment at the end of each lesson and give me feedback, or you can email me with any queries, to email@example.com.
You will need a sewing machine, with a darning or embroidery foot to do free machine embroidery, machine threads and some scissors. You will need small amounts of fabrics to create your bauble: 2 pieces of felt, 2 pieces of iron-on interlining and 2 pieces of a 'top' fabric each approx 14cm square, and some scraps to make 6 or 7 narrow strips approx 1cm wide, plus around 40cm of narrow ribbon to make a hanging loop.
I have been a textile artist fulltime for around 10 years, after completing my degree in Contemporary Applied Arts. I love all things textile and love sharing my passion with others to help them get creative!
I have run workshops for the last 9 years either in my lovely studio, or in a group setting elsewhere. Sadly in the present world situation I have decided not to run any face to face workshops, in the meantime I am loving creating on line workshops here, and talks and films for my YouTube channel, Stitch and Create.
