What are the requirements for this course?

None! Level 5 Theory is the first examination offered by the Royal Conservatory of Music and is considered the "jump-in" level if you've never taken theory before. Although completion of the previous levels (Preparatory - Level 4) or other previous theory study is helpful, it is not necessary.

Who is this course for?

Any self-directed learner who is interested in taking the Level 5 RCM examination or who wants to lay a foundation of study for higher levels.

For what age is this course appropriate?

It is recommended for students ages 12 and up but it also suitable for younger children who work under the supervision of an adult.

How long do I have to finish the course?

As long as you need! It is completely self paced and so you when you start and finish is up to you. Videos and can be paused and replayed as often as you like and worksheets can be downloaded and reprinted as needed.

How long does will it take me?

The assignment completion time averages about 30 minutes and so you should allow a total of 20 - 25 hours for the written work. If you submit assignments a couple of times a week you should be able to finish the course in about 13 weeks. If you send in your work once a week, it should take approximately 25 weeks.

How long do I have access to the course?

Forever! Once you've enrolled and paid, you'll have access to the course material for as long as you need.
