Frequently Asked Questions

What are the requirements for this course?

None! Level 5 Theory is the first examination offered by the Royal Conservatory of Music and is considered the "jump-in" level if you've never taken theory before. Although completion of the previous levels (Preparatory - Level 4) or other previous theory study is helpful, it is not necessary.

Who is this course for?

Students, working under the supervision of a teacher, who are interested in taking the Level 5 RCM examination or who want to lay a foundation of study for higher levels.

For what age is this course appropriate?

It is recommended for students ages 12 and up but it also suitable for younger children who work under the supervision of an adult.

How long do I have to finish the course?

This is up to your teacher. Some teachers require students to complete the lessons according to a set schedule and others allow students to set the pace and timeline for completion.

How long do I have access to the course?

Forever! Once you've enrolled and paid, you'll have access to the course material for as long as you need.
