CourseCraft

Hi there! I'm Kena Tangi Dorsey, Quilt Artist, Teacher, Designer and Owner of Kena Quilt Studio and I'm excited to bring to you a course called, "Let's Make a Selfie Portrait Quilt." I will teach you a step by step fun and easy method of the raw-edge appliqué technique that I love using when making my own portrait quilts.

This online course is a blend of on-demand pre-recorded lessons and live virtual sessions.  The official opening of this course will happen on the weekend of September 5th when you will have full access to the courses content. However, there will be live virtual kick-off on Zoom, with the instructor, a few days before to help you get set up and started.  After that, you will be free to go at your own pace.  Additionally, there will be a few more "optional" live virtual work sessions and Q&A's with the instructor, following that initial kick-off and start date.

In this course, you will learn how to take one of your own favorite selfie pictures and turn it into a beautiful art quilt!  Don't worry if you're a little camera shy, you can always use the selfie or portrait of a close friend or family member and make it for them.  These are wonderfully unique gifts, and trust me, they will love you forever!!!

First, you'll learn how to copy and create a template from a photograph and then transfer it to fabric form.  Once you have your template we will learn how to choose fabrics with confidence and then begin to design a custom and unique pattern and layout for your quilt.  I'll guide you through each step along the way.  You'll come away not only having learning a few new techniques, but you'll have that favorite selfie of yours forever etched in the fibers of your heart.

So, no matter whether you are a confident beginner quilter or an intermediate/advanced quilter looking to add new tools and techniques to your tool-kit, this is the course for you!

We are going to have so much fun!  Sign - up today!!
