This meditation defuses the fight or flight that overwhelms survivors of trauma, soothing the somatic response that overwhelms us and makes us feel like a stranger in our body.
This ancient technique guides the brain into the theta brainwave state, working with our subconscious mind to access the parts of ourselves hidden behind our mental and emotional walls. By bringing these hidden parts of ourselves to light, we are more a friend to ourselves instead of a stranger.
In theta, our senses are withdrawn from the external world. Instead we focus on signals originating from within. Theta is our gateway to learning, memory, and intuition. It’s where we hold our ‘stuff’, our fears, troubled history, and nightmares.
Keep this meditation in your toolbox to help disrupt the cycle of fear. Use as needed to feel safer, more connected to your heart, and emotionally centered.
