We Write Workshop Spring 2019
Sure, writing is fun!
But you need skills. And readers. Many online writing classes are missing one big element:
Professional feedback on your work.
I am a long-time writing teacher and the award-winning author of three novels. My careful, gentle feedback comes from years of writing, editing, and teaching. Many of my students go on to become published.
In this course you will:
- Get the personal help you need.
- Get your writing reviewed weekly.
- Get concrete ways to improve.
Mostly, you'll learn the craft. You'll understand how to make your words reach the hearts of your readers.
I call this creative writing course We Write because...
- Writers need close attention from an objective reader in order to improve. We work together on this.
- Writers often need structure and deadlines to meet their goals. We work together on this.
- Writers need to know what works and what doesn't and why. We work together on this.
Together, We Write.
What you'll get
- Personal feedback.
- Small classes.
- The best techniques and craft lessons for both fiction and creative nonfiction.
- Gentle critique that won't destroy your confidence.
- Paced learning.
- Generative exercises to discover characters and stories to write about.
- The tips and tools I used to go from aspiring writer to published author, and to help my students do the same.

What students are saying!
Julie is a wise, generous, fantastic teacher and writing coach. With her help, I got an agent for my memoir and had several pieces published in national publications, including the New York Times. You will not be disappointed in Julie or this comprehensive, excellent course. She's the real deal!— Laura Zam, student, author, LauraZam.com
Hi Julie! Just wanted to drop you a quick note to say thank you for amazing feedback. I was more nervous than I anticipated I would be having never had anything I've created critiqued, but it was sooooo helpful. I agree with just about everything that you and my classmates raised, and it was really interesting (...and again helpful) to hear the consistency in the parts that people responded to most strongly...and the parts that were seen as less important. In committing these first pages to paper, there was ...and still is....so much about this story that I didn't know, and that I have to work out and discover. The writing exercises that we've been doing and the feedback are invaluable tools to figuring it out. I'm so glad that I signed up for your class!— Linda Pratt Kimmel, agent at Wernick & Pratt Agency
Julie Chibbaro has been my writing coach for the past 6 months. During this time, through her support and encouragement, I've not only experienced an improvement in my writing skills but also in my writing confidence. When I recently went through a severe case of writer's block, Julie helped me dig deep until we brought to light the issues that were blocking me. In addition to navigating me through the depths of writer's block despair, Julie has armed me with an arsenal of priceless writing tools and techniques that will last a lifetime. I look forward to working with Julie as I continue to develop and practice my writing craft.— George-Ann Sauer, student
Hi Julie - Thought you'd be interested in knowing that the novel manuscript you helped me with...Cowboy Code...is a finalist for the Exeter Award in the UK. The judge is an agent and may represent the book. I'm told there were hundreds of entries from all over the world and just six finalists. The winner will be announced on March 24. Thank you again for your help with the manuscript. It feels so much stronger now, and the affirmation of being a finalist raises my hopes for publication. Your comments helped me see my manuscript in a new light and hone the focus more sharply on my POV character. I restructured the opener to bring more gravitas to the story and through your eyes was able to see the major theme of the novel. Your astute comments were immensely valuable!— Louella Bryant, student, LouellaBryant.com
