Color Mixing Workshop: the basics and beyond
In this on-demand, rapid-scrolling, nine-second attention span world, a painting has less than 2 seconds to make an impression with the viewer.
Color is the most powerful tool in the artist’s arsenal to make an instant impression.
Get it right, you’ve got their attention.
Get it wrong, they walk right by or keep on scrolling, without a second glance, like, heart, or comment. :((
So let’s get it right.
*notice how your eye goes immediately to the sentence with the yellow highlight!
In March of 2021, my monthly acrylic painting class students were struggling with color mixing.
Even the more advanced painters were confused about some of the basic, but important, fundamentals. Example: warm vs. cool colors.
Fortunately, I have years of successful color mixing experience and simple exercises that leave confusion behind. These exercises give acrylic painters a huge library of color mixes, using only 6 colors, plus black and white.
We spent an entire month on color mixing.
I put my years of color mixing skills into a workshop format. They got four weeks of video lessons and exercises to guide them every step of the way, with downloadable worksheets and yes! Homework! to put the lessons into practice.
When you sign up for this workshop you get immediate access to all the lessons, worksheets and videos.
Did I mention there are advanced exercises that help you develop amazing color mixes based on the colors you love and already use on a regular basis?
Plus, as a bonus, I walk you through my personal studio color palette and explain which colors I buy, why I love them and how I use them.
If you’re a color junkie like me, that info is pure gold.
Here’s what my students said.
These videos are not professional #homemade and one even has a wonky section that I hope to eventually fix or reshoot.
The videos do not have captions.
But the information is top notch without being heavy on the science-y theory stuff.
You can mix amazing colors without knowing about their wavelengths and refractive data. (The stuff that makes an artist’s eyes glaze over just thinking about it)
There’s no fluff, or a grand welcome video, just the information you need to become a more confident acrylic painter.
Who this workshop is for:
You love color, but can’t mix the colors you love easily or on a regular basis. Or you can’t look at a color you’ve mixed before and know how to mix it again.
You’re tired of mixing colors you hate, but use anyway, because paint can be spendy!
You understand the benefits of having a system over the “hit and miss” approach.
You’re open to learning and ready to do the exercises
Who this workshop is NOT for:
You’re already a confident color mixing rockstar. #congrats
You like to mix a million colors together and hope it works.
You don’t mind wasting paint.
You just want to watch the videos without doing the exercises. Regrets, you have to do the work or this will be a waste of time.
What supplies do I need?
Look above at the table of contents you have free access to the supply list. You can start with the paint you already have. Your results won’t be exactly the same.
How much time does this take?
That depends on your work style. Most people can complete all the exercises in four sessions of 2 - 3 hours each.
I’m a member of your monthly class. Do I need to sign up for this?
No, you have access to all of this in your membership hub.
What if I want to join the monthly class?
You’d be one smart cookie! For $27 a month you get access to this and SO MUCH MORE! I’ll put a link below so you can see the monthly class information. :))
How long do I have access to the workshop?
You have access for the lifetime of the class. But please get started ASAP! Don’t wait another day to improve your color mixing skills.
What’s your refund policy?
I’ll give you a full refund within 14 days of your enrollment if you’ve done the work and don’t see the value. You must show me your finished worksheets and homework in order to qualify for the refund.
I have more questions.
Send me an email: firstname.lastname@example.org
What if I have questions while I’m doing the exercises?
There’s a comment section below each lesson. I’ll be happy to answer any questions you have about the class.
